Of all days, my BIRTHDAY (May 1st), I was informed by my internal medicine physician that a CT-Scan and MRI had depicted a basilar aneuysm about 6 mm near my brain stem.
On Monday, May 12th, Linda (my wife) and I arrived at CUSF Medical Center at 6:00am anticipating a long and upsetting day. After the angiogram, we wandered down to the cafeteria with no answers--even after meeting with the procedure physicians. While in the recovery room, one of the physicians said we would probably not know the results until after he had conferred with the team of other doctors, espcially the lead physician, Dr. Lawton. He thought the answers would come that Fri, May 26th or possibly the following week.

After a silent lunch, Linda and I made our way to the elevator and standing in front was Dr. Lawton, my neurosurgeon! He motioned us to come over to him and said, "Derril, I saw the film. You have a bulge along one of the vessels, it is not a aneurysm and you have probably had it since birth. It is not a threat."
The scare of these days is now over; however, I still have to lose weight and begin walking more--which is definitely on my agenda!

Because of today's modern miracles through medical science, "Praise God," I am back in the saddle at Reno and looking forward to a bountiful summer and fall with all of you.     "Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your thoughts and prayers that were received!!"    Rev. Derril
